I meant to mention yesterday that there were two rays of sunshine from the often dreary, depressing world on Wednesday. I am thinking I may try and do this more often, every few days, post my idea of uplifting news of the world.
The first got media attention: Oprah Winfrey cutting the ribbon at the celebrity-studded opening ceremonies of her new leadership academy for girls near Johannesburg, South Africa. And the second, even more astonishing, and just as life-affirming, was the story of a man's life saved by a stranger after he fell onto the tracks in a New York city subway station. See the New York Times account for something guaranteed to make you believe in the goodness of people.
